Do you want to build a sunroom or deck? Are you going to finish the basement or order that storage shed so you can finally park the car in the garage? If so, you should know that West Earl Township has adopted a zoning ordinance and a building code which requires a permit before you begin to tackle those projects. A permit is required whenever you add to, construct or locate a building or make any structural changes to an existing building. You also are required to have a permit if you upgrade your electrical service or modify your plumbing or mechanical systems. The Zoning/Building Permit Process The process of obtaining a zoning/building permit begins by speaking or meeting with the Township's Zoning Officer and by filling out a building permit application which you can download here or pick one up at the Township office. The Zoning Officer will determine whether you need a zoning or building permit, or both. If your project requires inspections, the Township offers the choice of three building inspection agencies. Associated Building Inspections, Commonwealth Code Inspection Service and Building Code Inspections. Any questions about zoning and building permits can be directed to the Township's Zoning Officer. The Zoning Officer can be reached at (717) 431-3739 and has office hours at the Township building on Wednesday mornings from Associated Building Inspections (717) 733-1654 Commonwealth Code Inspection Service (717) 664-2347 Building Code Inspections (Residential Only) (717) 330-3378 A Few Helpful Links "Do I need a zoning permit for........?"
